This e-learning course provides a foundational understanding of sexual violence including its forms, impacts, and how to respond using a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and victim-survivor-centered approach. It introduces the LIVES framework, offering practical guidance on how to support victim-survivors with empathy and respect.

Technology is part of our everyday lives. It helps us stay connected, informed, and engaged with the world around us. While technology offers many benefits, it can also be misused to cause harm. The e-learning course is designed to help you understand technology facilitated abuse (TFA) in the context of domestic and family violence (DFV), with a focus on multicultural communities.

This course provides an overview of Australia's rich multicultural identity. It explores how we can be culturally responsive and inclusive when working with colleagues and communities from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Working with interpreters

This course outlines practice considerations and approaches for working with professional interpreters. It explores how we can improve our communication and interactions when working with individuals and communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who have limited English language proficiency.

Fundamentals of culturally responsive practice ​

DURATION: 3 hours 

Overview
Culturally responsive practice training is a reflective process that helps practitioners gain an insight into how their own cultural perspective impacts on their interactions with others as well as how culture influences other people’s worldview. ​This interactive workshop builds confidence and core capabilities to work in culturally and linguistically diverse environments with clients and colleagues.

Learning objectives
  • Describe a framework for working in a culturally responsive way ​
  • Reflect on the impact of cultural identities, beliefs and values on everyday interactions, responses and understandings ​
  • Practise conversations that explore difference and common ground to work collaboratively ​
  • Implement strategies to manage unconscious bias in the context of power differentials ​
  • Demonstrate an understanding of intersectional disadvantage, vulnerabilities and barriers to accessing services for people from migrant and refugee backgrounds ​
  • Identify strategies that create a more culturally responsive service
